We showed this little video at one of our Enrichment Meetings. We had gathered items from the Church's Humanitarian Center to make for orphans. They have blankets, nightgowns, toys, etc that you can take to work on, and bring back when you are done. Then they send them to orphanages all over the world. We started off our night with this activity, to put things into perspective. I don't think there was a dry eye. It was really neat...

Learn about your Town/State History
One ward in our stake took tours of museums and other places of interest to learn more about the town's history. They said that they had such a neat time learning about the place that they lived and things that they had never known.

Mini Class on Homeopathic Remedies
We are excited to have a guest presenter come in and give a mini class on homeopathic remedies. Did you know that you can lower a fever by adding 1/4 teaspoon of GINGER to a cup of warm water, and drinking it? Add a little bit of cayenne pepper and it will really do the trick. The philosophy is if you warm your insides you body will say, "Oh, I'm warm enough now," and will start cooling down. Interesting, huh?

Did you know that there are so many other things you can do with your wheat? Not just bread!
You can sprout it and it can be a fresh vegatable in a time of need
You can crack it
You don't need a wheat grinder
It can be a meat substitute
At least I didn't know these things. So we are going to have a mini class where an "expert" in our ward is going to teach us how you can cook it like rice and add it to your spaghetti sauce, your hamburger patties, your salads..etc. Who knew? We are excited

The Casserole Dish
We are going to have an enrichment meeting focused around the casserole dish!
First we will etch our names into our dishes...no more tape or markers on the bottom of OUR pans!
Supplies-
Glass
dish
Contact paper
Craft knife
Etching Cream
Gloves
Glass cleaner
Graphite paper
Stylus or pencil
Paper towel
Old paint brush
1.Create a design you want. I typed our last name in the font and font size I wanted on my computer and printed it out. I also used little clip art pictures around our name.
2. Cut a piece of contact paper at least 1″ bigger around the edges than your design. Place the contact paper on your dish where you want the design.
3. Place your printed design over the contact paper where you want it and place the graphite paper between your design and the contact paper and trace around the letters or design using a stylus or pencil. (If your contact paper is on the outside on the bottom of your dish you will want to transfer your name backwards, so when you are looking at it from the inside its not backwards. That is how I did mine.)
4. Using a craft knife cut the contact paper on the lines you traced. Once you are done remove the contact paper where you want it etched, leaving the rest on.
5. Make sure all the edges where you cut are down really good, then spray glass cleaner on a paper towel and gently clean the surface of your dish where you will be etching.
6. Put your gloves on and shake the etching cream bottle good. Using an old paint brush put the etching cream on generously where you want to etch. Let it sit for a minute, Then I take the etching cream off with my brush and put it back in the bottle, so it lasts longer.
7. Then under warm rinse the rest of the cream off and then take the contact paper off and you have your wonderful design!
THEN, we will have recipes for a breakfast dish, lunch dish, and dinner dish.
We will end with casserole sampling. The sisters in our ward signed up to bring their favorite casseroles to share. We are providing the punch and cookies.
****If you know someone who does vinyl lettering, they can make a stencil of everyone's last name! I'd of course offer to pay them, but it shouldn't be that expensive per name. I'm sure that the sisters probably wouldn't mind paying a dollar or so, for their name either. Anyway, if you find someone who does vinyl lettering, just have the print out the name in a mirror image. It works fantastic and it's so EASY! You just stick it on, then put the cream on top, clean it, and peel it off. It's beautiful!

Six S Night
We recently had an enrichment night that we called "Six S Night" and stood for "Soup, Salad, and Sweets with Sisters in Sweats doing Service." We served simple soups and salads and then spent the night sewing humanitarian school kit bags (but you could work on any service project for your area.) We decorated very simply to keep the focus on service and displayed quotes on service printed nicely and framed as centerpieces. We offered a prize for the craziest pair of sweats and had tons of fun sewing and chatting. We finished with a simple dessert and a few words on service and how it blesses us individually. This was one of our most successful enrichment nights to date.
